Ever since the election, there has been a mass migration from the fascist dumpster fire on Twitter/X . . .
. . . to bluesky. There are currently about 25 million users on bluesky.
No, that is not as many as the bad place, but a huge percentage of bad place users are no longer using it, or are just bots. I have far more followers on bluesky than I ever did on twitter, and although I don’t have as many quasi-viral posts, I do get pretty solid engagement.
Bluesky provides a lively environment for discussion. Yes, it is mostly among Democratic and other left leaning folks, and that sort of “sorting” isn’t exactly ideal. But unfortunately, X’s algorithmic biases, the constant hostility of MAGA spambots and the grifter industrial complex, and the realities of character limits means that thoughtful left/right dialog on twitter has been dead for a long time.
So if you are someone who can stand social media, I recommend it and would love it if you would please follow me. If you prefer to avoid such spaces—I totally understand and, in fact, encourage this!
