A bright spot amid bad news

While right-wing folks like Andrea Suarez and their allies like Sara Nelson push for punitive approaches to addressing homelessness, the federal government (except under Trump), has long been clear that housing first is far more effective.

Veterans are the primary people that the feds focus on when addressing homelessness, and they apply a housing first approach. Veterans are also the only group for whom rates of homelessness are improving.

Ned Resnikoff recently wrote about the increases in homelessness, improvements for veterans, the issue of housing first, and how much more work there is to do.
