Scandal: Email From Chamber Pushed City Council To Delay Social Housing to February Election
Who runs this city, anyway?
Publicola reports that a records request has uncovered the fact that the President of Seattle’s Chamber of Commerce sent an email to Maritza Rivera and Sara Nelson encouraging them to delay the social housing initiative.
Remember, delaying from November, when there is high voter turnout, to February, when turnout is much lower, and voters tend to be older, richer, and more anti-tax, made it more likely that the Chamber would win. It also set the Chamber and its ultimate puppet masters (e.g., Amazon) to buy the election through a disinformation campaign.
In violation of the city charter (thus, violation of the rule of law), the day after the Chamber sent that email, Sara Nelson’s council voted to delay citizen’s vote until February.
